Pen 4 The Lord

Seeds of Strength Hope & Encouragement

Happy New Year! It’s that time again to pick your One Word for the year. Have you heard about “One Word?

Three years ago, I heard about choosing one word to focus on every day and all year long. I welcomed the challenge and found it interesting and rewarding. All you do is pray and ask God to give you one word to help lead, guide and shape you throughout the entire year.

It keeps you focused on what God has for you. My first year, my word was “Pursue.” For the entire year, I continued to pursue everything I was involved in.

The devotional book, Chicken Soup for The Soul was accepting stories until December 31st. I was determined to submit a story. With my word pursue, it inspired me to submit one even if I hit the send button at midnight.

Last year, my word was “Rejoice.“Many wonderful things happened. The most exciting was the wedding of my son, Brian and his beautiful wife, and my new daughter-in-law, Jen. God allowed many other milestones to keep me rejoicing all year long.

This year my word is “Content.” I’ve persued, I’ve rejoiced, now it’s time to be content.

What about you? It’s not too late to take the challenge and ask God for your One Word. Pray and ask God what word He has for you then take it and allow it to enhance everything you do all year long.

Feel free to post your word below and share it with others. And, if you’ve picked a word, in the past, why not share and encourage others to join in the fun; share your stories below!

Thanks for stopping by and I pray your New Year is off to a great start. May the Lord bless and keep you in all you do!

Twas the night before Christmas

and all through the world.

The spirit of peace

was finally unfurled.

When suddenly a roar

burst forth from the sky.

What was now happening!

“Are we gonna die?”

People sprang forth

clear from their slumber.

To crashes of lightening

And poundings of thunder.

From the east to the west

all started to say.

“No, it was not me

It was not that way!”

For in many languages

such words were now uttered.

People began weeping

and some even shuttered.

My gosh, what was happening

how was anyone to know?

There was no explanation

what God wanted to show.

See an inner convicting

was now taking place.

As each living soul

was meeting God face to face.

Though we can’t understand

just how this could be.

Oh how God was able to speak

to each one of thee?

But you see in His ways

it’s not about us knowing.

It’s all about eternity

and where we are going.

So if today all our ways

are not leading us above.

God’s giving us time

to accept His pure love.

Take this Christmas time

and ask Jesus to come in.

Turn from all evil

and turn from all sin.

So, when Jesus returns

 on that given day.

We  will be assured

what thr Father will say.

“Well done faithful servant,

It’s Heaven for you.

Step into My presence,

your journey is through!”

Now if these are the words

that you long to hear.

Grab hold of the season

and it’s meaning this year.

Remember that Christ

Stand to wait at the door.

With Him your new life

will become so much more.

Let God be your master

your LORD and your King.

Allow Him to rule

over every single thing.

And, in closing may God

bestow His peace over you.

As you do in your heart

What He calls you to do.

Thanks so much,

Two weeks ago today, the world lost a great man of God.

Reinhard Bonnke, the world-renowned evangelist, at the age of 79, passed from this life into glory. He was a man full of fire and the power of the Holy Spirit. He was the founder of Christ For All Nations.

One of the most humble men you will ever meet stood year after year on the continent of Africa preaching the Word of God, with an invitation to all. His website states, as he preached the gospel, 79-million have made the decision for Christ to be the Lord of their life.

I love the passion, as he shares with his german accent, the dream given to him by the Lord. In the dream, he saw Africa washed in the red blood of Jesus. Then he heard a voice say, “Africa will be saved.” Oh, how he followed that word and lived to see it come to pass.

We are in the midst of the Christmas season. We celebrate the birth of our savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He is not just a baby in the manger, but he has come for you, for me, as well as the continent of Africa.

As Reinhard Bonnke led so many to Christ, this is the perfect time for you to receive him also. To say a simple prayer and to ask Jesus to come into your heart and make Him Lord of your life.

My prayer for you is that this Christmas will be the Christmases of all Christmases. The Christmas that you invited Jesus to come in.

Would you like to do that today? To make Jesus your Savior and Lord over your life? If so, bow your head and repeat this prayer after me. “Jesus, I admit I am a sinner. I can do nothing without you. Today I want to make a new start. I confess my sins to you, and I ask you to come and live in my heart. I make you my Lord and Savior forever.”

If you have done that my friend, you are now born again. Once born of the flesh, but today born of the Spirit of God. He has now come in to live on the inside of you. Rejoice … Rejoice! Rejoice!

If you have done this, please let me know. Post it in the comments that all can rejoice in your decision for Christ!

In closing, may you remember the family of Reinhard Bonnkee. His precious wife Anni and his three beautiful children.

Thanks for stopping by. So glad to have you as part of my community to share my posts. If you’d like to receive more like this, click on the tab to the right, pop in your email, and you’re all set.

God bless, and have a Christmas Filled weekend..

This post is a review for the book Serious Writers Never Quit by Bryan Hutchinson. It’s the perfect book for beginners, especially if you’re trying to work your way through that first draft.

Writing is a tough and sometimes a lonely craft. Bryan encourages every writer to take the plunge and go for it.

If it’s your calling, and you know it, don’t throw in the towel when you’re so close. Write what you know. Write it with a passion.

So many times, it’s easier to just tuck something away after that first draft, but Bryan encourages like playing pool, aim for the best!

I love where he says that a writer’s biggest enemy is failure; so true, but everything he shares is about passing past that failure, and going on to the finish line, and to pursue your calling as a writer!

I can’t say enough, except hop over to Amazon and get your copy today!

Happy Writings!

Blessings, Del

Welcome to another Five Minute Friday. The day and the place where we write for Five Minutes off a prompt word given each week. This week our word is WAIT. So, let.s go!

WAIT is a word

we seldom like to hear.

Cause in this day and age

in a snap, we want it near.

Time for another FiveMinuteFriday. As usual, we start with a prompt word and write for five minutes. This week our word is TESTIMONY.

Seems to be an interesting word after the events of this past week. How Hurricane Dorian raised fear and hardship as he whirled along the coast. In the aftermath of this terrible storm, our hearts go out to all who have experienced loss and devastation, especially in the Bahamas. And, on another note, we praise God for the many testimonies of His grace, mercy, and protection.

Well, I know it’s not Friday, but with the focus on the hurricane threatening the coast of Flordia, right where my home town of Vero Beach is, I’ve veered off the path a bit.

Last Friday on my blog I posted a story, Nothing Short of A Miracle. As I promised in the closing, I would give part two to the story this week. As you know, I usually write off the prompt word given on, FiveMinuteFriday I was amazed at this weeks prompt — BACK. My story last week was about my husband, Jon’s BACK.
