Have you ever tried to stubbornly accomplish a task and when someone offered help — you just knew that you knew, “you knew best!”
Yesterday was my day. I had six hurricane vases with well-burnt candles melted deep inside that needed to be cleaned out.
Of course, I searched the internet and pulled up a few videos to see the easiest way to get it done. After watching about two or three, I assembled my vases and I was ready to go.
After hours in the kitchen and with only two of my six completed, my husband asked, “Isn’t there an easier way?”
Oh yes,” I mumbled under my breath. “The Freezer.”
About an hour and a half later, while I worked diligently on vase number three, he walks up to the freezer, opens the door and pulls out one of my vases.
He then proceeds to twist the candle that was embedded inside and presto, the entire thing came out in one huge clump!
How many times are we like that with God? We struggle aimlessly to accomplish something on our own and He’s trying to get our attention.
He’s either speaking in our ear, or He’s trying to guide us through a loving friend or even our spouse — but we continue to labor in vain.
We think we’ve got it. We think we know best – but in all reality, God’s got this! Because He is all knowing, and He knows the beginning to the end, He knows exactly what we need. He knows how what and when we need to do it.
Just like my husband, so easily twisted that ball of wax out right out of that vase, God can single-handedly twist, mold or re-shape whatever you’re struggling with today!
So, you might be wondering … Did I thank him? Well, yes… but only after eating just a bit of Humble Pie!
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up”. James 4:10
God’s the same. He loves for us to praise and thank Him. To humble ourselves in the presence of the Lord and to let Him know how great and mighty He is!
Thanks for stopping by and why not leave a comment to share below what God’s been showing you today. Why not pay it forward and encourage another…
