Hey, glad you stopped by. It’s time for another Five Minute Friday and today’s a very special one! The word for the week, INFLUENCE — was inspired by Kate Montaug, the host of FMF and the release of her new book,
Influence: Building a Platform that Elevates Jesus (Not Me)
Today we celebrate with Kate and take five minutes to think about what the word INFLUENCE means to us. So, as we set the clock, let’s go!
I think of my life and I have to ask myself, “Who do I try to influence the most?”
Being a grandmother, I feel a deep necessity to influence my grandkids to follow the Lord. I then question, “Who am I and what can I use or display that will influence them to turn to the Lord for any decisions they’ll have to make? Have I shared with them enough why the name of Jesus is the most powerful name they can ever say?
“Train up a child in the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
That’s a pretty deep question. I wonder what it would it be for you? Who do you try to influence and what means do you use to do that? Have you ever thought about it?
Since we’re still, at the beginning of a New Year, I guess it gives us something to ponder about.
Maybe it might be something to set as a goal. To ask the Lord to give you a purpose and a way to INFLUENCE others.
I know that when it comes to my grandkids, I sit back after I’ve said or done something and think to myself, now do I really want them to remember that? Although I try to INFLUENCE them always to follow the Lord and to know how much God loves them, sometimes I fall short — I hope they will remember the good and not my slip-ups. 🙂
So, let us take
sometime today.
And think of what
we’ll do or say.
To influence
our brother.
our mom, our son
By things we do
and how they’re done.
.
Then when our life
Is over and through.
They’ll continue doing
the good things we do! … Amen
