It’s time for another Five Minute Friday where a community of writer’s who receive a prompt word from our dear friend, Kate Motaung, set our clocks for FIVE minutes to write.
Anyone can join. Just visit the link, follow the prompts and write away. Our word this week is DEEP. So, I set my clock and go!
Have you ever thought of your words as being a weapon?
Sometimes our words can be as smooth as honey to heal a hurt, to mend a heart or take the sting out of someone’s pain. Oh, how comforting they are when our pain is DEEP. When someone comes along with that healing balm to speak words of encouragement, and we are able to walk away with a new lease on life.
But, other times, our words can pierce like a sword! They can become a destructive tool to pierce right to the heart. Words that come from an evil or a prideful heart have the power to destroy everyone and everything in site.
I love the book of Proverbs. Someday I’ll get to thank Solomon for his words of wisdom and the power of his pen.
Did you know that there are thirty-one Proverbs in the Bible? Yep, one for every day of the month. Reading one Proverb a day can begin to change the way you begin to look at things and how you relate to others and circumstances around you. Solomon’s words are DEEP.
“He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.”
Beloved, with this being the beginning of the Christmas / Advent Season, why not challenge yourself? Why not take the beginning of this month and promise yourself even in the busiest of the season of the year, to read a Proverb a day. Hey, and by New Year’s Eve, December 31st you will have read the entire book of Proverbs! And, you will be ready for the New Year, with a renewed mind and with the Wisdom of Solomon. What do you have to lose?
If you’re willing to make that commitment, let me know. Just reply in the comments and your name will be entered into a drawing for a Devotional book about the book of Proverbs!

The Book of Proverbs with Devotions for Today by James M McDonald
Thanks for stopping by and have a safe, healthy Christmas Season!
