Hello there. Time for another Five Minute Friday. This is where we receive a prompt word and for Five Minutes we write about it then share it with you. If you’d like to join in, just click on the link, Five Minute Friday and write away, and if you’d just like to read, then follow me along.
Today our word is Anniversary. It couldn’t be a more perfect a prompt since today is my daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Pete’s 12th year Anniversary.
Sometimes we make plans, only to see them fizzle out. I can recall one of the things my daughter and I planned on doing together before her wedding. We were going to sit, relax and get a manicure and pedicure at her favorite little shop.
Somehow, sitting on the bathroom floor at 3:00 AM the night before her wedding, polishing my nails –Something fizzled out!
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21
We plan this. We plan that. Then, life happens. We try to stop things from getting in the way, but for whatever reason, other things seem to take precedence.
Like picking up her dress that they took much longer to alter than expected. And getting the names to the hall for the place settings that we thought would have been finished sooner than the day before.
All in all, God is in charge of our lives. Be it a wedding, a birth, a job or just our everyday happenings. If we want to have peace, we must remain flexible. We must be willing to bend and not break when our plans are suddenly interrupted.
Think of it this way. We can either resist when things are out of our control and break or remain flexible and allow the arms of the Father to hold us afloat!
My prayer for you today is, that no matter what circumstance you’re facing — Whatever has come along to interrupt your plans, that you will remain flexible and heed to the nudges and follow the way of the Lord. Then, maybe 12 years from now, you might stumble upon this Anniversary story, and say, “Yep, I did the same as them. Just like Del and her daughter’s plans were interrupted, I also remained flexible and as I look back, I celebrate with joy today.”
Amen. Stop writing and see you next time, and Happy Anniversary Jennifer and Pete!
Have a Blessed week,
Del
