Pen 4 The Lord

Seeds of Strength Hope & Encouragement

Hello and I bet you’re wondering, “What the heck is she going to write about with a title like that?”

Well, since it’s another Five Minute Friday, and the prompt is RUSH, let’s get right into it. Yes, I know I’m a bit late on posting, but it’s been a busy week and I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to share with you.

When we were kids, my mom had a favorite saying, “Haste makes waste.

As I’ve been blessed to live my sixty-plus years now — I’ve come to realize more than once — she was right.

Many times as I was ready to dive into something just because I wanted it NOW, I could hear my mother’s words — Haste Makes Waste. It was always a prompt, just like our word today, — don’t RUSH, stop and wait.

Day after day, I can see that when we rush, we can miss the very best that God has for us.

Wanna hear a perfect example? Well, my husband and I have been looking for a condo on the first floor for the past four years. I’ve come to realize that as age creeps upon us, stairs seem to become a bit of a problem. Just saying 🙂

Every time a property pops on the market, we respond in a wink to check it out.  Many times, I was ready to settle just because they were in great shape.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” my husband would ask. “Don’t you want to wait for one on the water? Don’t you believe God will make one available?”

In my heart of hearts, I knew He would. But — in my haste, I was going to rush ahead of God and settle for second best.

Well, praise God that we waited! Two months ago we finally found it! and you guessed it, right on the water. And, praise God, after a bit of work here and there, we finally moved in yesterday.

Was it was worth the wait? You betcha! As I sit here and share with you today, I have to ask myself. “What if I hadn’t waited? Where would we be today?  and … would I be regretting it and forever be asking myself, What if, just what if I waited?

“And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.” Hebrews 6:15

What about you? Are you waiting for something God has promised? If so, I come to bring you encouragement, “Don’t give up! Wait on God’s perfect timing and He will come through for you just like He did for us.

And — If you’ve had a similar experience and God’s shown up mightily… please feel free to share and encourage others!

Thanks for stopping by and remember — Slow down… Smell the roses and remember that Haste Makes Waste!

Blessings,

Del

Such an important (and often difficult) thing to remember. And often, as the Garth Brooks song says, sometimes we will be thankful for “unanswered prayers” because we realize they were not what we wanted in the first place or there was something else that God had planned that was even better. But, waiting is the hard part…Visiting from FMF – thanks for posting!

“Don’t give up! Wait on God’s perfect timing and He will come through for you just like He did for us.” I needed this today. I’m waiting to see if God will allow a guy and me to go on a date. It’s a little tricky with us both having disabilities and living in different states. We’ve known of each other since we were young thanks to a camp we went to for kids with disabilities – it’s only within the last month that things have been like a clumsy dance, stepping in and pulling away (mostly me). It’s also making me lean on God which is the best. Thank you for sharing this. I also find it hilarious because my mom picked me a rose that I literally had to stop and smell. lol.

    Visiting from fmf. 🙂
